Product Review: Hurley Phantom 60 Boardshort

Thanks to Hurley Philippines, we were able to try the Hurley Phantom 60 during our surf trip last weekend at San Antonio, Zambales. It was  a perfect time to test the multi awarded Phantom series because as you know conditions in Zambales are always changing. The sun may be out in the morning but rain will heavily pour during the afternoon. Also, the reef breaks around the surrounding islands of San Antonio are powerful and shallow. Let’s just say that wearing uncomfortable boardshorts should be last on your worries.

Well, the technology that’s in the Hurley boardshorts – we can say that they really deserved all the accolades they got. We got comfort and definitely more.

surfed from early morning till noon. the sun was out and we were also blessed with offshore winds.

but when we came out of the surf, heavy rain poured and it was COLD. like bone chillin’ COLD.

so we changed and left the super soaked Phantoms to dry.

You know that feeling when you’re dry for a while and you have to surf again and you have to get back into your boardshorts you left to dry but of course it’s still wet? That sucks right? Changing to something wet isn’t the best feeling in the world.

Guess what. After only 30 minutes the Hurley Phantom 60 was already dry enough! It’s still damp but no water came out when I squeezed the shorts. That’s truly impressive to think its was only 30 minutes and the shorts wasn’t even left to dry in the sun. It’s still is raining when it got this dry.

Other highly notable feature is the feeling of not wearing anything. Most boardshorts out there claim the same thing but with the Phantom the fit and the lightness of the cloth works hand in hand to give you the most freedom in movement.

The Hurley Phantom boardshorts (particularly the Phantom 4D) has won the Surf Industry Manufacturers Association (SIMA) Men’s Boardshort of the Year – a prestigious award given to a product with the most exciting design, appeal or innovation for 4 times in a row already. That’s a big statement in the competitive world of the surf clothing industry and here at LokalSoul we can fully attest to this fantastic boardshorts.
