GMA 7′s Survivor Philippines will feature Mara Isabella Lopez Yokohama – a Filipina surfer who’s been making waves since childhood and is currently a hard charging wahine frequently surfing in Baler, Zambales and La Union among others. Mara is teamed up with her famous Mom in a Celebrity Doubles Showdown edition of Survivor Philippines where ten pairs of celebrities will try to outlast each other to win a Php 3 Million prize.

Mara is the daughter of long time Japanese surfer/businessman Hiroshi Yokohama and legendary Pinay beauty queen Maria Isabel Lopez. Her dad Hiroshi was one of the first surf entrepreneurs in the Philippines who opened the Yokohama Surf School in La Union during the 90′s. With a surfer dad and a supporting mom to guide her, Mara is one of the handful Filipinas who can claim surfing not just a lifestyle – but also as a serious physical endeavor that requires dedication and commitment.

Airing prime time at 9pm Mondays thru Fridays, Survivor Philippines is one of the most watched TV shows in the country. This is the first time a known surfer will be part of the show (that we know of) and this will definitely be a great exposure to Philippine surfing in general. Watch Mara try to outwit, outplay and outlast the competition. Hope her surf skills do her good!
