Surf Porn Wednesdays @LokalSoul July 13

So Mr Lokalsoul what the hell happened to last week’s edition of Surf Porn Wednesday? Are you so busy with “work” that you forgot to update LokalSoul – the best and only blog that sincerely advocates and focuses on Philippine Surfing where others are trying to imitate yet pale in comparison? Are you forgetting your responsibilities because of the “stress” of your quarter-life-actually-it’s-more-like-mid-life-crisis-you-are-getting-old career challenges? And why do you sound bitter in writing this? Is it because you’re unable to surf in the past weekends primarily because you have no money and all the money you get from that corporate slavery all goes to phone and house bills? We demand an answer Mr Editor-in-Chief whatever.

Well no bro! Come on. I purposely didn’t write an edition of SPW last week because I was planning a grand edition of SPW today! Instead of 5 videos, we’re featuring 10 videos today of oh so gnarly surf goodness. And its guaranteed worth the wait. Here are 10 videos we collected and saved for your viewing pleasure.

1. Summer Surf at Kapuluan Vista – Mike Oida, owner of zen resort Kapuluan Vista in Pagudpud showed us this video of how they do it over there up north of the Philippines. I don’t know how many salivated and wanted to immediately surf Pagudpud after watching this clip but we were one of them for sure. man this is surf paradise. video uploaded by kvrtube1.

2. Mabuhay sa Cloud 9 (Welcome to Cloud 9) – the Reef team visited Siargao in Nov 2011 and oh how they ripped and shred the world famous break that is Cloud 9. watch Paul Fisher of FollowtheFish TV, one of the luckiest bastards on Earth (visit his blog to know why), getting barreled all day. This was probably the same time when Osot Alcala got featured in Surfling Life Magazine. The video below was shot by Franck Charbonnier of SurfVideoFactory of France. we were able to have quick chat with him and he told us how great it was in Siargao when he stayed there last year for 6 weeks. wow 6 weeks. sure could use some of that. video uploaded by user surfvideofactory.

3. Big Sunday at the Backyard – La Union as we all know is where beginners flock to get their first taste of that thing they call stoke. the beach break of Urbiztondo in San Juan, La Union is really one of most suitable places for surf lessons. however, one day would prove to be different than any other. in a video dubbed “Big Sunday” by well known L.U. local Joy Ishii, massive double overhead waves went blow by blow at the beach break where only the locals and some brave souls have paddled out to. and look how they enjoyed every minute of it. this video was uploaded 3 years ago and is one of the biggest days in La Union recorded and seen on Youtube. video by user namijooshi.

4. The Endless Samar – embark on a road trip to another gem in the Pacific, Samar. here is a great video that shows the joy of travel to a faraway land and happiness shared thru surfing. this makes me want book a flight for all my friends but of course that’s just wishful thinking. video uploaded by user pawieachacoso.

5. Home Video: The Switchfoot of Fail – time for a break! in stark contrast to the amazing surfing in the first 3 videos above, here is a guy trying to do tricks which only resulted in comedy. note: this was taken more than a year ago and I the person swears that he has drastically improved over time. hey everyone went thru this phase! spot is in Liwa, Zambales. video uploaded by user tjcafuir.

6. Gubat Bay Surfers Go Pro Video – well there’s nothing to say much about this except the Gubay Bay Surfers are a stoked bunch. have you seen the pictures of Gubat Bay surfing? check them out here. meanwhile enjoy this well made Go Pro video uploaded by user dagat0000.

7. Flow Rider Surfing in Boracay – yes! one of the world’s best beaches that is Boracay now has a Flow Rider surf pool and top skimboarder Jorny Mariano shows us how awesome it is. actually the pool is at Crown Regency and we stayed at this hotel on our recent trip just this past summer. the Flow Rider wasn’t functioning yet and there was heavy construction going around. pretty sure were not going to see the thing opening soon to the public. but hey, another reason to visit Boracay no matter how congested it already is. video by ron supertan.

8. Birthday SURF – our friend Bea Vega who can’t get enough of the stoke just had her birthday early this year at the place she dearly loves. Baler. and when in Baler, this is what you get. surf, skate and the laid back Aurora vibe. video by beavega.

9. Blackwater: The Story of A Place Called Teahupo’o – this is the last surf film we’ve seen and we’d like you to watch it. this is a great documentary that shows a bit of history, some background and the perils and joy of surfing Teahupo’o, one of the heaviest waves in the planet. you will get scared just by watching and with the testimonials of the brave surfers who ride Teahupo’o, you’ll have more respect and admiration to the surfers who go big and risk it all. no pain = no gain, there is lots of both in this documentary. video by 60muis.

10. Twin Fin Fish – the video that plays in our laptop and in our minds every night. I am a goofy foot and I have a fish and this is exactly the kind of surfing I wish to do. maybe you watch Jordy Smith or Clay Marzo, but this guy’s surfing is just fine by me. that is the dream. that is the goal.

Note that some videos above especially the ones from Facebook may not work because of privacy. You got to add LokalSoul.com as a friend in Facebook in order to see them. Well that’s it dear readers. Another edition of Surf Porn Wednesdays brought to you by your friends at LokalSoul. Drop by next week to catch another batch of awesome videos!
